Athletic Game Day Student Worker

Department: RPI Athletics
Location: Multiple Athletic Venues
Position Type: Part-Time Student Employment
Hourly Rate: $15.50
Schedule: Variable, based on athletic event calendar (includes nights and weekends)

Reports To: Assistant AD for Communications and Marketing, Director of Athletic Facilities and Operations, Director of Ticketing and Revenue Generation

Job Summary:

RPI Athletics is hiring student workers to assist with the successful execution of varsity athletic events. This is an excellent opportunity for undergraduate students to gain experience in athletics, events, and operations while contributing to the success of RPI’s Division I and Division III programs. Student workers will be assigned game-day roles based on availability, interest, and staffing needs. Training will be provided for all positions.

Important Note:
These positions are open to undergraduate students only; graduate students are not eligible for hire.

Typical Positions Include:

Game Operations Support:
Assist with clock operations, scoreboard operation, shot clock, and other timing duties requiring attentiveness and accuracy during play.

Table Crew and Stat Crew:
Support game documentation by tracking statistics, substitutions, penalties, and maintaining official records in coordination with officials.

Ball Person / Field Support:
Retrieve and place balls efficiently during play to maintain the pace of the game.

Camera and Streaming Support:
Operate livestream cameras during events. (Note: Coaches remain responsible for their own non-streaming team video needs.)

Ticketing and Guest Services:
Staff ticket scanning, box office sales, ushering, and assisting with pass lists.

Fan Engagement:
Support fan activities such as selling 50/50 raffle tickets or running promotions.

Parking and Crowd Management:
Direct spectators, manage parking lots, and support venue safety and flow.

 

Key Requirements:

Must be an undergraduate student at RPI
Must be reliable, punctual, and available to work nights and weekends based on the athletic calendar
No prior experience required; training will be provided
